USTA Introduces Two New Youth Grants!

Hi Everyone,

 

To those of you who are USTA Members and have children who are in a tennis program, you may be interested in two Grant opportunities that USTA has just made available:

 

1. 2020 Competitive Travel Stipend for National Competition – Boys and Girls Between Ages 11 to 16

 

Program Objectives:

 

  • To support the development of 50 players by providing up to $2,000 in Competitive Travel Stipends, as well as formal engagement with players, parents and coaches in the program throughout the year. This program is designed for players near the top 100 on the USTA National Standings list.
  • Encourage players to compete in USTA national championship tournaments and pursue the USTA Player Training Pathway (www.playerdevelopment.usta.com)
  • Inspire players to pursue the performance benchmarks needed to qualify for USTA Player Development camps and top tier Division I college tennis scholarships.

2. 2020 USTA Diversity and Inclusion Essay Competition – Boys and Girls 12’s, 14’s and 16’s Age Divisions

 

Program Objectives:

 

  • To honor the legacy of early tennis pioneers from diverse ethnic backgrounds that have left an indelible mark on the sport and significantly contributed to the growth of the game.
  • To support the development of juniors who like many pioneers before them have had to overcome significant obstacles in an effort to pursue their tennis goals and aspirations.
  • To encourage more junior players to compete in USTA sanctioned sectional and national championship tournaments which align with the USTA Player Training Pathway (www.playerdevelopment.usta.com).
  • To inspire junior players to pursue the performance benchmarks needed to qualify for USTA Player Development camps and top tier Division I college tennis scholarships.
  • This program is designed for players outside the top 100 nationally who may be highly ranked in the Section.
  • There will be a first ($1250), second ($750) and third ($500) place winner in all Boys and Girls Divisions as stated above.
