A Special Thank You from Larry Dillon

Hey Everyone,

Thank you all for such an enjoyable and productive season. The season went off without a hitch. Each club hosted a really good event, matches started on time and ended early, food was good, kids seemed to have a good time, parents appreciated it, … and so on…

It was a pleasure working with Ken Goldsmith to organize and manage the league. I also want to recognize Maria Lirio, our USTA Eastern Jr Team Tennis Manager for helping us throughout the process beginning last year with our first Orange Ball Summer League and continuing through this season.

On a special note I’d like to thank June Nguyen for going above and beyond the call of duty for her contributions with helping to organize the league. She stepped up in a big way on several occasions and made a difference to the quality of our league.

Now we’re off to the Section Championships. You are all invited to attend the event as follows:

Saturday, June 7, 2014

East Brunswick Racquet Club

8am – 4pm

This is the first time New Jersey has hosted any Section Championship (Junior or Adult). Come out and support it. We look forward to more. NJ Rocks!!!

As an extra bonus, we will raffle tickets to the US Open on Championship Day (June 7). Any player who participated in a 10 and Under League from around the section in attendance will be eligible to win. So come out and support good tennis and try to win a couple tickets to the Open.

Please let Ken and I know if you are interested in a culminating event. We can organize a play celebration sometime in June for fun and some continued good play.

Finally, one of our main goals is to raise the expectations for the level of play attainable for young kids especially with the advent of 10 and Under Tennis. I urge you to seek to maximize the skill level and sophistication of play at each stage of development for your kids. We want excellent Red, Orange, Green and Yellow ball players. Moving to the Green or Yellow ball too quickly doesn’t allow children to hone high level strategies for advanced match play since they often struggle to handle the heavier, higher bouncing, faster balls in a bigger space. Let’s shoot for excellent play!!!

Sincerely and with many thanks,

Larry Dillon | Manager, 10 and Under Tennis
